Charmaine Marcus-Jacks is a teacher counsellor and coach. She grew up in Johannesburg close to where she now lives with her husband.
Her love and connection to art began as a child which has always enriched her life.
She began painting more seriously when she joined Ricky Burnetts art school.
She has enjoyed and developed an abstract style of layering colour and textures to create depth.
She uses oil on canvas and acrylic on paper which allows her to texture and paint shapes whilst juxtaposing natural and geometric forms. She explores shapes, colours and textures to build her works which are inspired by her observations during her more recent travels and experiences.
She feels that her work expresses the changes and emotions of her life’s journey.
